The writing samples below comprise a variety of different styles for different media and audiences. Some are interviews and articles; one is a book review, one a website of user guidelines and documentation. All of these samples are currently online; I’ve provided links so they can be viewed in context.
Book review:
Origami Design Secrets: Mathematical Methods for an Ancient Art
by Robert J. Lang
This book review appeared in Engineering and Science Magazine, a quarterly research journal published by Caltech Public Relations.
User guidelines and documentation:
This website was written to provide simple and clear instructions for creating websites that conform to the branding and identity standards of the California Institute of Technology. The writing style focusses on short sentences and paragraphs, and largely non-technical language. This is intended to hold the interest of an audience that can be expected to range from people of little experience of creating websites, to experienced web developers.
Article:

“Caltech Local” is a series of online articles that highlight interesting and unusual local destinations that can be reached easily from the Caltech Campus by bike, bus, train or car.
Interview:

Interviews:
This article focusses on ordinary staff who are in pursuit of the extraordinary: each is training to run a marathon or half marathon. The short interviews with each subject explore the reasons why running has become important to them; the article finishes with pre-event advice from an experienced runner.
Article:
